About HSEC
Health, Safety and Engineering Consultants Limited (HSEC) is a private limited company providing professional multi-disciplinary engineering, health and safety, human factors, project management and training services.
HSEC was formed in 1993 by the current Managing Director, with the majority of the staff joining in 1994 from British Coal. HSEC employs 23 staff, the majority of which are chartered engineers with extensive experience of engineering and health and safety. The Company's activities are undertaken under a quality management system in line with ISO 9001 (2000) requirements and HSEC is registered under the LINK-UP scheme.
Our core skills are mechanical engineering, electrical and control engineering, ergonomics, human factors, risk assessment and reliability engineering, as well as extensive experience on development and delivery of training. Although we specialise in design scrutiny and assessment of compliance, we also have experience of engineering design. Through our branded Supply of Machinery Advisory Service (SOMAS) we have provided advice and assisted many clients with CE marking and the compilation of Technical Files.
HSEC maintains an active involvement in several industries including Fairground and Leisure, Mining, Rail and Water. Through our
trading name R H Mitchell and Associates, we provide an extensive Expert Witness service handling over 450 claims per annum. Areas routinely considered include noise and vibration, health and safety and general engineering.
HSEC is one of the largest suppliers of engineering and health & safety services to the leisure industry in the UK. Over the last eight years we have been responsible for the design verification of all new rides and safety modifications to existing rides for the Tussaud's Group. HSEC has also provided these services for other theme parks such as Drayton Manor, Fantasy Island, Flamingo Land, Wicksteed Park and Robin Hill, and ride manufacturers and/or ride importers.
Our assessment methodology has been developed substantially in recent years and builds upon systems we developed to provide British Waterways with an independent verification of the design and manufacture of the Falkirk Wheel, Scotland. It ensures that we make a systematic assessment and allows easy access into the details of the assessment to provide ongoing support to an operator once rides are running.
We have considerable multi-disciplinary expertise and benefit greatly from having Mechanical and Electrical engineers along with Risk and Reliability and Ergonomic specialists all directly within the project within the same office. We have full 3D CAD and FEA provision within the office and are committed to continually improving the service we offer.
