HSEC has undertaken a significant number of assignments in the railway industry, initially on the Jubilee Line Extension Project (JLEP) for major contractor Tarmac and Cegelec, West Coast Mainline upgrade, derailment investigation for Halcrow Transmark and safety culture assessment for several major railway industry players. HSEC also has considerable experience of the management of provision of engineering evidence for compensation claims arising from various types of accidents from slips and trips to major derailments.

HSEC have been working closely with equipment suppliers to survey and design suitable supports for customer information screens and related equipment.
In addition to the railway specific experience mentioned here, HSEC has a unique breadth and depth of experience of risk assessment and design review of high thrill fairground roller coasters and people movers. While these are a far cry from mainline rolling stock there are a great many common factors; wheel rail interface, axles, bogies, drive systems, train control systems, and block systems.
