HSEC have expertise in the use of many different techniques for Risk Assessment.
Choice of the appropriate technique is based on the criteria; set out in the
Management of Health & Safety at Work regulations, that a risk assessment shall
be suitable and sufficient.
Where the potential consequences of hazards are low, the appropriate approach
could be to use a simple 5x5 matrix. At the other end of the scale, a complex
engineering system in a high risk application such as a theme park rollercoaster
or potentially explosive atmosphere will require a detailed and rigorous process
possibly incorporating quantified frequency assessment. To this end HSEC have
developed a risk assessment process, as detailed in the following diagram:
