Developing Technical Files to meet the requirements of the EC Machinery Directive, which is applicable to all equipment and systems with moving components (with certain specific exceptions).
From 1 January 1995 the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 1992 which implement the Directive in the UK, requires that the responsible person, be they:
- The manufacturer of machinery
- The manufacturer's representative in the EEA (European Economic Area)
- The supplier of the machinery into the EEA
- The assembler of machinery, or parts of machinery, now has to be capable of providing a technical file on request of the enforcing authority.
HSEC can undertake, on behalf of the responsible person, the preparation of the technical file, which may include:
- Assessing Compliance - The compliance of the machinery or system with the directive
- Design Standard - Checking the suitability of the standard to which the machine or system has been designed
- Identify Risks - Assessing the sources and the levels of risk nor covered by design standards
- Preparation of Documentation - Technical documentation required by the directive to be available to operators
- Training - Programmes for operations and maintenance staff to meet the directives requirements
