Upper Limb Disorders
Our ergonomists have been instructed on over 200 litigation claims involving various upper limb conditions. Almost all of these have required a detailed investigation of the work involved in order to assess the biomechanics of the work and hence the foreseeability of that work leading to general ULDs or the specific alleged injury. The conclusions drawn have to be sufficiently robust for cross examination in court.
We are also proactively involved with a number of companies to assess potential risks and develop a package of recommendations ranging from improved workstation or job design to policies and procedures to effectively manage any ULD risk.
This exposure has given HSEC's ergonomists considerable experience of the potential ULD in a wide range of industries. It has also allowed us to develop, or refine, a number of assessment methodologies.
